A female police chief has said she was “furious” when she heard a Reform MP saying she “never feels comfortable” when she sees two female police officers together rather than a male and female officer.

Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy told Channel 4 News on Friday she was “angry” at the comments made by Reform MP Sarah Pochin.

In July, Ms Pochin told BBC Radio 5Live: “I never feel comfortable, actually, seeing two female police officers together.

Sensitive situations

“I’d much rather see a great, big, strapping male police officer with a female, but there’s 100% a place for women police officers,” she said.

“We need them to go out to certain, perhaps, more sensitive situations, situations where children are involved, situations where battered wives are involved or battered girlfriends.”

Ms Kennedy, who retires from her position on Sunday after more than 30 years in policing, was asked for her reaction to the comments made by the MP for Runcorn and Helsby in nearby Cheshire.

“Furious, angry,” she told Channel 4 News.

‘Not where we need to be’

“I can’t believe that so long after, 50 years since we had the Gender Equality Act, the Sex Discrimination Act, that somebody is making comments about that role.

“As a mum to two daughters and a nana to a granddaughter, I want them to never feel that they can’t do whatever they want to do just because of their gender.

“They absolutely could.”

She said the force has more work to do to reach a 50:50 split in terms of male and female police officers.

“We’re not where we need to be and comments like that do not help.”

Good response by Serena. By the time the Deform mp takes her foot out of her mouth, she probably would have said that women should just stay at home.

Glad to hear her speak out. As one of our most senior and respected officers in the UK and KPM recipient, it’s deeply saddening to see the amount of abuse she received over the past few years. If you put her in a one to one debate with poochin about crime and disorder, I dare say the chief constable with eat her alive!

Her lies about Greenway Road, Runcorn resulted in Police having to investigate only for the residents to say that there was nothing to see. When is she going to be charged with wasting Police time?

If you have any doubts about Pochin’s stupidity, just take a look at some of her TV interviews (available on Youtube). She is a bigoted idiot, so other than laughing at her, let’s not pay too much attention to anything she says.

Call me old fashioned, but I don’t consider a bunch of Haw-Haws fit for elected office. Maybe that makes me a “traditionalist”.

When dealing with large, strong and violent men women do not do too well, it is a reality underscored by the recent conviction of a manwhoassaulted police officers at Manchester airport and who easily beat the female officer very harshly, there really is no point in denying the physical reality of differences, on average, in strength and physical power between men and women.
