Prince Andrew gives up Duke of York title and honours ahead of Giuffre book

Prince Andrew is to stop using his remaining titles and honours, including the Duke of York, in the wake of the Epstein scandal, he has announced.

The latest development in the long-running controversy comes just days before the publication of a memoir by Andrew’s late alleged victim, Virginia Giuffre, to whom he paid millions to settle a civil sexual assault case.

In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, Andrew said that in discussion with the King and his immediate and wider family, they decided “the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the royal family”.

Entitled

Andrew will remain a prince, which he has been entitled to since birth.

The prince added: “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.

“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

The King’s brother will retain the dukedom, which can only be removed by an Act of Parliament but not use it.

He will also give up his knighthood as a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO) and his Garter role as a Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

‘Entitled’. That is the stand out word in this article which sums up everything. Keep Prince, keep Dukedom, continue the pretence of no wrongdoing, give up nothing of real meaning and continue to sponge off the people of the UK. At least there is one thing that cannot be given up and that is the shameful disdain in which he is rightly held. It is difficult to imagine reading anything as insulting as this.

The Royal Family in special measures, a rampant Farage, yet another political stitch-up, a megalomaniac at the head of half the countries in the world,..

Twmp and Putin behaving like Taylor and Burton and a Marvell line-up of tech super villains plotting up the new ‘Firm’ in Twmp Palace…

The American Caesar; War-fighter, Peacemaker, ‘Orange Jesus’, a blasphemy in a Golden Hellhole…

What would he have had to give up if he wasn’t the King’s brother?

So he loses his titles. Big deal. He still remains a prince and lives in the lap of luxury at taxpayers expense though. The poor girl he allegedly abused lost something far more important. Her life.

Before tying Prince Andrew to her death, it is worth just a little research. This ‘girl’ (she was 41 at the time of death) had been in a recent car accident her car collided with a school bus. While not initially found, she was diagnosed pretty soon after with advanced renal failure, given according to her, four days to live and referred to a specialist urology clinic. Virginia went home instead. Virginia made a public statement that she was ‘ready to go’ and that she just wanted to see her babies one last time. About three to four weeks later… Read more »

The really telling thing is the hard fact that, despite Andrew’s constant and categorical denial of the allegations made against him, his mother apparently paid a huge sum to his accuser. Only one thing which that can imply, surely?!

We are told it needs legislation – an Act of Parliament- to remove him as the Duke of York. OK then – let’s start a campaign to get this done.

We have bigger and more urgent issues to debate in parliament than whether someone gets to be called Duke of such and such.

Odd choice of actions for someone who claims he never met Virginia Giuffre.

Important that the Westminster Parliament must now remove the ‘Dukedom”. It would be hypocritical for that parliament to make legislation to ‘protect women and girls’ while maintaining this abuser in the position of a duke. It is not possible for parliament to remove him as a ‘prince’, a privilege of birth, but he should abdicate that position forthwith.

The writer of the book speaks exceptionally about this. It’s just the latest damage limitation measure by the dreadful royals and their ruthless, self serving PR machine, before the situation gets worse – trying to get that extra bit of distance. Sadly the royals are not the only ‘institution’ the current noisy right and old Brit-Nat’s, and whoever sends them money, want to protect.

Pretty concerning and sinister that one of Reforms kinks is propping up the Royal family.
