A teenage stats whiz who has been keeping Wales updated with the latest Covid-19 stats since March has won a top award.

Lloyd Warburton from Aberystwyth, is to be honoured tonight on the S4C show, Dathlu Dewrder (Celebrating Bravery).

The special programme, which is due to be aired at 9pm, expresses gratitude to young heroes in our society. It honours those who have been through the mill, but shown great courage, often when their days were very dark.

The young people will be presented with a special trophy that celebrates their courage.

Ysgol Penglais pupil, Lloyd, who for his GCSE’s received 6 A* grades, 4 As, 1 B and a P2 for his Welsh Baccalaureate, became an internet “statistics sensation”, after spending the pandemic creating a coronavirus stats website.

The now 17-year-old gained more than 15,000 followers on Twitter after he created a popular website displaying the data of Wales’ coronavirus case and death stats in each local authority.

Dathlu Dewrder tweeted in Welsh: “Loads of you have called for a national award to go to Lloyd Cymru for his totally amazing work Covid Wales recording statistics. Well today at 9pm S4C we’ll be answering that call.”
