Mark Drakeford has backed Scotland to beat England at Wembley, saying that it was time for them “to show what they can do” in the competition.

He was asked by Sky News presenter Kay Burley who he was backing in tonight’s game at the Euro 2020 championship in London.

“I am going to put you on the spot before you go – full-time result for tonight’s game, England and Scotland. What do you think?” she asked.

“Ooh, way way above my pay grade,” answered the First Minister. “I’ll give you a proper politicians’ answer and hope it will be a draw.”

“I’m going to push you as a presenter that interviews politicians all the time,” Kay Burley said. “I need an answer more than a draw.”

“OK, in that case,” Mark Drakeford said, “I think it’s time for Scotland to show what they can do in this competition.”

“Ooh, OK, controversial!” Kay Burley said. “It’s good to talk to you.”

He was also asked how confident he was that Wales would beat Italy on Sunday.

“Well, a very big game for us of course against one of the big teams across Europe,” he answered. “But it will be a very good experience for the Welsh team as we hope they progress into the knock-out stages of the competition because those are going to be the kind of games you face all the time.

“As we did ack in 2016 of course so successfully.”

Wales will support fellow Celts obviously…… it’s like Greece and Cyprus giving each other 12 points at the song contest.
