Two men in critical condition and four arrested after violent clashes

Four men have been arrested and two are in critical condition in hospital after violent disorder in south Wales.
Gwent Police said the four men were arrested following the disturbance involving a group of men near Pontypool around 7.15pm on Thursday.
Firearms officers and the National Police Air Service supported police officers in Mill Road, Pontnewynydd.
Two of those arrested are in police custody.
A police statement said three men were taken to hospital, with two in a critical condition.
Detective Chief Superintendent Anne-Marie Salwey said: “Violence in any form is completely unacceptable and anyone who is found to be involved in this disorder will be dealt as we will not accept this behaviour in our communities.
“We recognise that reports of this nature will prompt concern from our residents and it is likely that you will see officers in and around the area conducting enquiries as part of this investigation.”
Police have asked for anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around Hospital Road and Mill Road between 7pm and 7.30pm on Thursday to get in touch.
The road between Mill Road and Hospital Road remained closed early on Friday with diversions in place.
