Video guide: What are Wales’ new post-Christmas Covid restrictions?

26 Dec 2020 1 minute read

Wales has come under new Covid-19 restrictions from today onwards.

Under the new restrictions, people must stay at home and travel without reasonable excuse, and work from home if they can.

They can’t be part of an extended household, unless they’re a single adult or parent in an exclusive support bubble, need childcare when no other methods are available, or need to provide care for or to help someone who needs it.

A child can move between households if two people living apart share parental responsibility.

People are also stopped from meeting people from outside of their bubble outdoors – that rule also applies when meeting in private gardens.

Everyone must follow social distancing rules when meeting people they don’t live with, and must face covering (if able to) in all indoor public places.

Non-essential retail, hospitality, holiday accommodation and entertainment venues must close.

Click and collect is allowed but takeaway and delivery only between 6am and 10pm.

The rules are the same for people who have had the vaccine as for everyone else.

A full guide to the new restrictions can be found on the Welsh Government’s website.
