Llantwit Major FC’s stadium renamed ‘Prince Moomin’s Palace’ after raffle win
Welsh football club Llantwit Major FC have renamed their stadium ‘Prince Moomin’s Palace’ after a raffle win.
The club had launched a unique competition saying that the winner of the raffle could “name our stadium whatever you want for the rest of the season – and we mean anything.”
This morning the club announced: “Lucky we did a live draw or nobody would believe it the girlfriend of our star striker wins the competition, meaning you can join us for the rest of the season at Prince Moomin’s Palace!”
The Moomins are the central characters in a series of books and a comic strip by Swedish-speaking Finnish illustrator Tove Jansson.
Raffle entry was priced at £20 and closed last night. People could pick any name they wanted as long as it wasn’t racist or discriminatory.

The club which plays in the Cymru South division has risen through the divisions under the stewardship of current manager Karl Lewis. They now sit one league below the Cymru Premier.
The club is currently in second place in their division, and launched the competition to raise desperately needed funds.
“After playing at the lowest level for most of our history, the club was transformed by the appointment of current manager Karl Lewis,” said a club spokesman as the competition was launched.
“After winning the fourth tier, we then won the third tier the season after. That’s how we find ourselves in the Cymru South, one league below the Cymru Premier.
“At the time of writing we are in second place, two points behind the leaders. Unlike many teams in this division, our players play for free and we have very little financial backing.
“The funds raised in this unique competition will help us to make improvements to our ground, such as the addition of floodlights, new turnstiles, and a trophy cabinet to hold our Champions League titles once this goes viral and we become richer than Barca…Newcastle!”
