AFC Wimbledon scored a stoppage-time equaliser before beating League Two Newport County 5-4 on penalties in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
A Callum Maycock strike in the seventh minute of stoppage time cancelled out Yahya Bamba’s stunner as the tie ended level at 1-1 after normal time.
Nathan Bishop kept out Matt Smith in the shootout before Steve Seddon put the League One hosts through.
After a goalless first half, the visitors were by far the better side in the second period.
They forced a number of corners and Bishop had to block a Lee Jenkins effort.
Wimbledon needed a boost, and Jayden Stockley, Steven Sessegnon and Maycock came on.
Ex-Port Vale striker Stockley gave away a penalty with his first contribution of the game, but Bishop saved the Shaquille Gwengwe spot-kick with his feet.
Newport were not to be denied and took the lead in the 71st minute when Bamba stunned the hosts with a fantastic curled effort from outside the box.
The home side finally put some pressure on, and Wright had to make a fine save from Maycock, before the sub volleyed home to force penalties.
