Phil Parkinson was satisfied with Wrexham’s points tally in their last two games after picking up a hard-earned point against Huddersfield to stay second in League One.

Wrexham’s Ryan Barnett had the game’s best chance in the first half but found Jacob Chapman equal to his effort.

But after following up victory over Rotherham with a solid point against the Terriers, Parkinson believes it is a total many would have taken in the lead-up.

He said: “It was a hard-fought draw.

“I thought first half we were the better side. We dominated for periods and couldn’t quite get the moment.

“They changed the shape and they flattened out the midfield in the second half and credit to them for that, and it became an even tighter game.

“It was always going to be like that, no quarter given, and it was a high-quality game in terms of two teams being very structured out of possession and giving very little away. Give them credit, they made it difficult for us, but equally our lads I thought stuck to their jobs in hand very well.

“It was a real shift for us and I just said to the lads in there if before the Rotherham game, from Rotherham and Huddersfield we’d take four points, I think most people would have taken that. It’s a decent point.

“It was two teams who gave everything and neither team could find the moment to win the game.”

Huddersfield moved up a place to fifth and boss Michael Duff was pleased with how his side stood up to Wrexham’s first-half pressure.

He said: “I was pleased with how we came through a difficult start. We’ve talked about our mentality and our mindset as when there’s a little bit of heat come on (in previous games), we’ve not stuck to the task, we’ve not stuck to how we wanted to look.

“I thought at half-time the back three and the goalkeeper kept us in the game. We tweaked a couple of things at half-time and I thought we wrestled control of the game.

“They’re going to have the odd attack because they’re a good team. I’ve just been told they’ve scored 15 goals in five games, but we’ve limited them to one shot on target.

“Then I thought it was going to be us that was going to nick it, but a couple of things didn’t quite drop for us.

“The real positive is they took the information and delivered it and that’s been the criticism of when the heat’s come, we’ve crumbled a little bit and we didn’t today, so that’s hopefully a positive step.”
