Ryan Reynolds has revealed he is looking forward to “many more” years at Wrexham following their promotion to the Championship.

Deadpool star Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney bought Wrexham for £2million in February 2021 and have since led the Welsh club out of the National League and into the second tier.

Wrexham beat Charlton 3-0 on Saturday to became the first team in English professional football to achieve three successive promotions.

‘Temple’

Writing on X, Reynolds said: “This club is the sum of its supporters.

“Before we showed up they’d saved it multiple times. It’s a temple as much as a football pitch. @Wrexham_AFC has been one of the greatest experiences of my life.”

Reynolds’ post accompanied a clip of him attending an Ed Sheeran concert, with the Ipswich minority owner having told him: “Ryan, I think Wrexham are going to get promoted and we’re going to see each other next season.”

Ipswich were relegated from the Premier League to the Championship on Saturday.

‘Starting work’

Reynolds crossed his fingers after Sheeran’s comments in a video charting Wrexham’s success, accompanied by American band Green Day’s song ‘Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)’.

Reynolds said: “It’s hard to avoid immediately starting work on next season – but important to take the moment in. Looking back and looking forward feels really good right now.

“I think I speak for @RMcElhenney when I say, thank you for the greatest four years and here’s to many more.”

North Wales needs an Ambassador for Canada and most things Canadian, could we multi-purpose Cae Ras to facilitate this forum of the arts. ‘Neil Young loves Footie’ I’m sure I read that somewhere, he will be here in a month, when the wind blows hoist all your sails…

Deepest sympathy for those killed the other day…Go Canada…

There are so many Venues in Cardiff the place is sinking into the Bay, a king’s ransom has been spent funneling people into the City

But Wrecsam is coming to the rescue…

It is a ‘SHAME’ that Clark of the Cinque Ports did not leap out of his chair to defend Canada from Twmp’s declaration of war…they did for us in 1939…the island to our west was aiding the U-Boats!

No names but he advises the UK Prime Minister…

Llongyfarchiadau Wrexham.
Surely it’s time to build a decent football ground in North East Wales of sufficient quality to host International games. A stadium not too dissimilar to the ones at Swansea (21,000 capacity) or Cardiff (30,000 capacity) is a project our politicians should consider worth exploring.
Why demand that our northern friends have to make the trip to Cardiff for every game?

Sport and the Arts is about being alive. The North East is a football stronghold.
