National treasure, creator of footballing folklore, soccer superhero, greatest of all time – call him what you will but let us give thanks for Gareth Bale.

When the man in need of his own Marvel franchise achieves his international landmark of 100 caps, either this evening against Belarus or on Tuesday against Belgium in crucial World Cup qualifiers, we must pay tribute to a player who has transported us to hitherto unattainable heights.

In doing so he has awakened and galvanized a nation, instilling pride and belief in Welsh identity.

Cherish him

One day we’ll look back on these years and realise how lucky we were to live in the age of Gareth Bale.

Let’s cherish him while we can, with the hope of World Cup qualification still firmly in our sights.

But first feast your eyes on the stunning free-kicks, outrageous shots, incredible volleys – all of Gareth Bale’s 36 Wales goals are here for your delight and delectation…

Gareth Bale is the greatest Welsh & British player of all time. His achievements speaks for itself.

He’s a true Welshman, unlike some I could mention, who put club over country. Gareth like Gary Speed always turned out for Wales. I cannot speak highly enough of him. A living legend. #Bale 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Always thought I was blessed to see the likes of Rush, Hughes, Southall at their Welsh peak, but to witness Bake in full flow was something else; his passion, his commitment, his genuine love for this country of ours is really quite beautiful. Diolch Gareth, you have always tried and for that you will always be both respected and loved.
