Plaid Cymru’s new election slogan

Plaid Cymru have unveiled a new election slogan – ‘Vote for Wales’ – and promised to harness the spirit of the 1999 election when they won their highest number of seats.

The election is an opportunity “harness the spirit of 1999 – the spirit of optimism, of hope, of a new beginning with a new government” according to party leader Adam Price.

He said that the election presented an opportunity to elect a government committed to creating “a fairer, greener” Wales able to thrive by taking control over its own affairs.

Plaid Cymru’s Westminster Group Leader Liz Saville Roberts MP who will act as Campaign Director added that the period running up to May 6th would focus on setting out how a Plaid government would deliver “transformational change”, rather than settling political scores.

Plaid Cymru Leader Adam Price said: “Vote for Wales. It seems obvious doesn’t it? That’s what we do in everyday life, whether it’s supporting Wales on the sporting field or waving the dragon with pride wherever we are in the world.

“On May the 6th we can take the pride we have in our nation to the ballot box.

“Let’s harness the spirit of 1999 – the spirit of optimism, of hope, of a new beginning with a new government.

“By taking that decision to vote for Wales, we vote for our children, to give them the best start in life.

“We vote for our young people, to give them the jobs they need and the hope they deserve.

“We vote for a health and social care system made in Wales to meet Wales’s unique challenges.

“History tells us that no party whose headquarters are in Westminster will ever deliver for Wales.

“For Plaid Cymru, May 6th won’t mark the end of our campaign but the beginning of it – the campaign to build a fairer, greener future where our country thrives by taking control of its own affairs and unleashing its greatest potential – its people.”

‘Positive’

Campaign Director, Liz Saville Roberts MP said that Labour were “managing decline” in Wales and that Plaid Cymru would set a new path away from the “hard right destructive Tory party in Westminster”.

“Plaid Cymru will run its most positive campaign ever, focused on transformational change, not on settling political scores,” she said.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has shown the need for a new Welsh Government which is nimble, focused and decisive. It also needs a First Minister willing to stay the course.

“This will undoubtedly be a campaign like no other but whether it’s at the polling station or by post, a vote for Plaid Cymru is a vote for Wales.”
